Tasha Cobbs Leonard Named Billboard’s Top Gospel Artist Of The Decade

GRAMMY-winning singer/songwriter Tasha Cobbs Leonard has been named Billboard’s Top Gospel Artist of the Decade. News of the top honor came late last week, as Billboard began announcing its year-end and decade-end charts. Cobbs Leonard was also named the Top Female Gospel Artist for the 3rd consecutive year.

This year alone, Tasha Cobbs Leonard earned two additional RIAA certifications—one Platinum certification for her hit single “Break Every Chain,” and a Gold certification (her third) for the #1 radio single “You Know My Name.” She was also awarded highest honors as Gospel Artist of the Year at the 51st Annual GMA Dove Awards and Artist of the Year at the 35th Annual Stellar Awards.

On December 4, Tasha Cobbs Leonard was a special guest on the Dolly Parton & Friends Christmas special presented by SiriusXM & Pandora. A huge honor to be invited by the legendary country singer, she performed her rendition of the Christmas classic “O Holy Night.” The audio version of the special will be available exclusively on Pandora on Friday, December 11.

Earlier this month, the powerhouse vocalist took to the stage with R&B legend Ne-Yo for a memorable performance of “The Christmas Song” for the Our OWN Christmas Special. The special aired on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network on December 1, but can still be viewed on the network website.

Tasha Cobbs Leonard’s current single, “In Spite Of Me,” has already rocketed to the Top 20 on the BDS Gospel Radio chart, proving to be the fastest-rising single of her career. A special studio version of the song, featuring R&B icon Ciara, is featured on her chart-topping new album, Royalty: Live At The Ryman.

Tasha Cobbs Leonard’s New Album Debuts At No. 1

GRAMMY-winning artist/songwriter Tasha Cobbs Leonard has debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart with her newest album, Royalty: Live at The Ryman. The acclaimed new project, accompanied by striking live performance videos, is already being called the singer’s most vulnerable and mature recording to date.

Last night, executives from Motown Gospel also surprised Tasha with news that her debut album, Grace, had been certified Gold by the RIAA, having sold over 500,000 album equivalents. Released in 2013, Grace is a fan favorite, yielding hits such as “For Your Glory,” and the career-launching “Break Every Chain,” which earned a GRAMMY and was certified Platinum (with over 1 million song equivalents) last year.

Recorded before “an audience of One”, Royalty: Live at the Ryman features standout hits “Pour It Out” and “Release The Sound,” as well as the lead single, “In Spite of Me.” Guest artists on the project include longtime friend and collaborator Kierra Sheard as well as popular family band We The Kingdom. Throughout the 17-track project, Tasha merges her country, bluegrass and gospel music roots to present an authentic worship experience.

KB Reaches Top 5 With ‘His Glory Alone’ Album

His Glory Alone, the blazing personal statement from chart topping, award winning hip-hop artist KB, has enjoyed a successful first week on the charts. The album slotted in at No. 3 on the Contemporary Christian Albums Chart, and sits at No. 4 on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums Chart. KB’s new album contains some of his most raw and uninhibited work to date, displaying unfiltered emotion regarding the anguish of racial injustice, colorism, and systemic subjugation.

The Tampa, Florida native draws directly from intimate experiences of struggle, strife, and redemption to create an album that reflects the urgency of our times. KB is a No. 1 hitmaker, receiving critical acclaim for his five studio releases with three No.1s on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart, top 5 appearances on Billboard’s Top Rap Albums Chart, and placement on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums Chart.

The hip hop artist and entrepreneur celebrated his fifth Dove Award nomination earlier last month, as “Armies” was nominated for Rap / Hip Hop Recorded Song of the Year. In addition to music, KB has stepped into the role of creative visionary for his clothing business Native Supply, and as host and co-producer for the faith and culture podcast Southside Rabbi, which is now in its second season.
