William McDowell Receives 2020 Billboard Music Award Nomination

GRAMMY-nominated and Dove Award winning worship leader, pastor and author, William McDowell, received his first “Billboard Music Award” nomination today for “Top Gospel Album” for his live album, The Cry (Integrity Music). This album earned McDowell’s fifth No. 1 debut album in his storied career on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums’ chart. The “2020 Billboard Music Awards” will broadcast live from The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. “Billboard Music Awards” nominees and winners are based on key fan interactions with music, including album and digital song sales, streaming, radio airplay, touring and social engagement, tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including MRC Data/Nielsen Music.

McDowell‘s album has also been nominated for a 2020 GMA Dove Award for “Gospel Worship Album of the Year,” and the song from the album, “Only You Can Satisfy (Live),” for “Gospel Recorded Song of the Year.” The Dove Awards will air on TBN on Friday, October 30th.

The Cry was recorded at Redemption to the Nations Church in Chattanooga, TN and featured special guest artists Nathaniel Bassey, Travis Greene, Yolanda Adams, David & Nicole Binion, Tasha Cobbs Leonard and Trinity Anderson (worship leader of McDowell’s Deeper Fellowship church). The Cry is available here. The album received praise from media being touted as some of his best work to date. Currently the combined track streams for The Cry are more than 16 million, and his YouTube has more than 18 million combined streams.

Billboard Music Awards Announce 2020 Nominees For Top Christian/Gospel Artist, Song & Album

Dick clark productions and NBC today announced the nominees for the “2020 Billboard Music Awards,” which honor the year’s most successful artists in 55 categories across all genres of music. The “2020 Billboard Music Awards,” hosted by Kelly Clarkson, will broadcast live from The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. This year’s awards are based on the chart period of March 23, 2019 through March 14, 2020, set for the originally scheduled April 29, 2020 show, which was postponed due to the pandemic. Top Christian/Gospel Artist, Top Christian/Gospel Album and Top Christian/Gospel Song are among the honors to be awarded this year. ‘Chris Tomlin & Friends’ Album Debuts At #1

GRAMMY-winning artist Chris Tomlin debuted his thirteenth studio album, Chris Tomlin & Friends, at #1 on Billboard’s Christian Albums Chart this week. The album also landed at #5 on Billboard’s Digital Albums Chart and #9 on Billboard’s Top Current Albums Chart. The album’s debut radio single feat. Lady A, “Who You Are To Me,” currently lands at #10 on the Christian Airplay chart and has become one of the fastest rising singles of Chris’ career. The song has spent each of the last four weeks as Most Added at Christian radio. The album also includes two songs that hit Spotify’s US Viral 50 chart, “Thank You Lord” and “Who You Are To Me.” Chris’ additional chart success includes him as a featured artist, along with Reba, Hillary Scott and Keith Urban, on Thomas Rhett’s “Be A Light” single at country radio, now breaking into the Top 5.

“Working with the artists on this record has been an incredible dream come true,” says Chris. “As our friendships grew from writing the songs together to recording them, we all realized what a powerful role we would each have introducing this music to our respective genres. It’s been really exciting to step into different places that my music would have never gone before.”

The 13 track project features Chris with super stars Florida Georgia Line, who also executive produced the album, Lady A and Thomas Rhett as well as several of today’s biggest country music artists including Russell Dickerson, Chris Lane, RaeLynn, Cassadee Pope and Brett Young in addition to Bear Rinehart of NEEDTOBREATHE, Blessing Offor and We The Kingdom. The album was executive produced by Florida Georgia Line. Corey Crowder produced 12 out of 13 tracks with David Garcia producing one track and Ed Cash and Dave Haywood each co-producing one.
